A guided tour on the theme of „Modemetropole Berlin“, starting at Hausvogteiplatz. In the 19th century, the centre of Berlin's ready-to-wear clothing industry grew up around Hausvogteiplatz, and in the 1920s Berlin ranked among the top 5 in international fashion, with the city mentioned in a breath alongside Paris, Milan or New York. Together with a certified guide, participants take a journey through time across the 19th and 20th centuries of the Berlin clothing industry, whose pioneers included the Mannheimer brothers, Gerson and Hertzog; from 1933 the destruction of an entire economic sector began, from which Germany has never recovered. The tour seeks to remember how important the fashion metropolis of Berlin once was, since forgetting is the worst thing one can do to oneself.
