Miji Ih: Mouths: On Water and Whisky
Fotografiska Berlin, Oranienburger Straße 54, 10117 Berlin, Mitte
About
"Mouths: On Water and Whisky" is a photo and multimedia exhibition by the South Korean artist Miji Ih, who lives in Berlin, and her most extensive solo exhibition to date. Her starting point was the Ari Statue of Peace in Berlin's Moabit neighborhood and the debate surrounding the so-called "comfort women." Weaving together photography, archival material, sound, and video, she creates a detailed study of the deep scars and absences left by systems of state and military exploitation and social stigma in women's lives. The exhibition connects this history with the lived realities of women around U.S. military bases in Japan, South Korea, and Germany.
