Nuestra voz de tierra, memoria y futuro
Babylon, Rosa-Luxemburg-Straße 30, 10178 Berlin, Mitte
About
This is a documentary about the struggles of the Indigenous Coconuco community in Cauca, Colombia. Though a royal decree from the 18th century granted it rights to 10,000 hectares of land, by 1971 the community had access to only 1,500. The film by Marta Rodríguez and Jorge Silva portrays the community's journey from submission to collective organizing. As it explains: for us, the land is not just a piece of hillside, but the root of life, which we defend as the root of our culture.
