About

A screening of six short films that travel from the mountains of the Dominican Republic to Haitian communities in Cuba and the Dominican Republic. The films by Martine Chartrand, Ricardo Ariel Toribio, Feguenson Hermogéne, Vanessa Beletic, Samuel Suffren and Pamela Bencosme explore how violence, migration and separation continue to shape Haiti and the Dominican Republic to this day. Together they place the knowledge of ancestors, spirituality and communities at the center, becoming a powerful means of preserving identities, processing losses and imagining other futures. The screening is followed by a talk with the filmmakers.
