About
„Objekte. Geschichte. Geschichten. Blick in die Sammlung“ is an exhibition of around 200 objects drawn from the collection of the German Historical Museum. It is organised by the museum itself and brings together previously unshown holdings, surprising finds and new acquisitions, from a 1607 amber chess box from Königsberg and Queen Luise's morning gown of 1806 to a 2015 bunk bed from a refugee shelter in Kassel. The show opens up the practice of collecting and asks about the origin and meaning of the exhibits. One section follows the museum's own history from 1883 to 2006, while the other turns to places and regions, borders, flight and exile.
