About
A discussion about the Ministry for Displaced Persons (1949–1969), the highest federal authority responsible for the roughly 8 million displaced persons and refugees in the Federal Republic of Germany. It is a cooperation between the Documentation Centre for Displacement, Expulsion, Reconciliation and the Federal Archives. It asks what role old cliques, party membership cards and personal networks played in the work, career progression and influence within the ministry – its first minister was a member of the Resistance, while his successor was deeply entangled in the Nazi system. After welcomes from the centre's director and the president of the Federal Archives, historians from the Institute for Contemporary History and the University of Tübingen will take part in the panel; the language is German.
