About

A documentary portrays the actress Helene Weigel, bringing her out of the shadow of her lifelong partner Bertolt Brecht. Director Maria Wischnewski combines interviews with contemporary witnesses, heirs and relatives with new, exciting archive material, while Birgit Minichmayr reads from Weigel's texts and letters. The result is the picture of an intelligent, combative woman who spent her life grappling with questions more topical than ever today. The private Weigel also comes to light, with contributors including Katharina Thalbach, Sarah Brecht, Johanna Schall and August Diehl.
