About
"Somatic Shrines for Crip Times: Act I" is an immersive performance and exhibition modelled on the concept of a shrine. It honours the lived experiences of disabled people and creates an aesthetic language for how disability feels. At its centre are offerings to digitally projected avatars that appear as embodiments of disability experiences and wisdom. The performers translate emotions such as joy, grief and anger through personal gestures and choreographies rooted in their own experience into colour, visual animation and form, while the audience takes seats on accessible seating.
