Susan Hiller – Bad Dreams
KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Auguststraße 69, 10117 Berlin, Mitte
About
Bad Dreams is the first survey exhibition of British artist Susan Hiller's work in Berlin. Shown at the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, it looks back on five decades in which Hiller explored dreams, trance states, hallucinations, spirituality, altered states of consciousness and encounters with the beyond. Ghostly images appear alongside children's wallpapers and toy kitchens, holy water and voices recounting UFO sightings and near-death experiences. At its heart is the question of how personal and collective imaginaries are shaped by images, objects, mass media and popular culture, and how we give form to things we cannot fully explain.
