Susan Sontag - Sehen und gesehen werden
Schwules Museum *, Lützowstraße 73, 10785 Berlin, Tiergarten
About
"Susan Sontag – Sehen und gesehen werden" is an exhibition about the US-American author and critic Susan Sontag (1933-2004), a "public intellectual" whose writings and unorthodox public presence sparked controversial debates. Curated by Dr. Kristina Jaspers and Dr. Birgit Bosold, the Schwules Museum takes over the exhibition from the Bundeskunsthalle Bonn and expands it with a search for Sontag's traces in Berlin and with her influence on queer culture. Central themes are visibility, self-staging and representation, tied to her life as a queer Jewish woman.
