»Übergang« is a documentary linking social and historical events with the biography of filmmaker Thomas Heise, including the love story between him and his husband Michael Saringan. The central setting is the Bahnhof Schönhauser Allee in Berlin, a major transport hub for decades, near which Heise lived until the end of his life. Heise began work on this final documentary at the end of 2023. After the death of the many-times award-winning director in May 2024, his longtime cameraman Peter Badel is completing the film.
