Under Berlin Film Festival (UBFF) 2026 | Programme #5

The Under Berlin Film Festival, the Berlin edition of the Transterritorial Underground Film Festival, shows independent films that rarely find a place in commercial circuits. Its 2026 edition brings together 16 films from 15 countries, with a focus on grief, binarity and human experiences often outside the narrative centre. This programme presents three films: a hybrid stop-motion collage short about a couple caught between crime and paper cutouts in Mexico City, a letter to a lover who has not yet written back, and a film about five artists whose families fled El Salvador's civil war in the 1980s and made art out of war. All films screen in their original language with English subtitles, and afterwards audiences, filmmakers and guests share conversation, bread and a toast.
