About

A talk about the Circle of Life embroidery, a new artwork on display on the Cathedral Floor at St Paul's Cathedral. Wendy Shorter-Blake MBE explains how the 2.3-metre-wide piece was made in the historic technique of Opus Anglicanum by the Royal School of Needlework, Fine Cell Work and embroidery teams from twelve English cathedrals. Commissioned by the Worshipful Company of Upholders for the 400th anniversary of its Royal Charter, it tells stories of faith, craftsmanship, remembrance and community, with a design by iconographer Aidan Hart. The talk reveals the traditional skills and collaborative effort behind one of England's most ambitious contemporary embroidery projects.
