Guildhall Library, Aldermanbury, EC2V 7HH London, Barbican
Free
About
An exhibition at Guildhall Library exploring the history of the broadside, the cheaply printed sheet that covered London's walls from the 16th century on, dispensing news, gossip and advice. It shows how broadsides, from biting political satire to dry announcements of laws, with songs, illustrations or melodrama, were used to speak to the general public, high and low alike, and witnesses much of London's history. The exhibition runs Monday to Thursday and is free with no reservations required.
