About
An animated science-fiction cult classic in which a merciless army of automata attacks the peaceful world of Gandahar, turning its people to stone. Directed by alternative-animation pioneer René Laloux, the film follows the young warrior Sylvain, who teams up with a cast-out race of mutants to uncover the source of the Men of Metal and travels through time with Airelle to defeat the giant brain Metamorphis. Its surreal creatures and bizarre environments were designed by comic-book artist Caza. Laloux's final feature is a visionary head-trip that pushes animation to the furthest reaches of the imagination.
