Karl Jenkins: The Armed Man, A Mass for Peace by Candlelight
St Mary le Strand, Strand, WC2R 1ES London, Covent Garden
About
A candlelit performance of Karl Jenkins' ground-breaking and inspiring Mass, written in reflection of the passing of 'the most war-torn and destructive century in human history'. The evening's performance will be given by The L'Inviti Singers, accompanied by Alexander Pott (organ) and directed by David Guest, and lasts about 65 minutes without interval. Jenkins is a contemporary Welsh composer whose breakthrough came with the crossover project Adiemus; the work has achieved '1000 Weeks' in the UK Classical chart and ranked fifth in the Classic FM Hall of Fame. St Mary le Strand, James Gibbs' baroque masterpiece, is arguably the most beautiful of the Queen Anne Churches.
