Knit Wits Haus of SIBLING - An Archive Exhibition of SIBLING knitwear
Kingston Museum, Wheatfield Way, Kingston upon Thames, KT1 2PS, Norbiton
About
An exhibition of SIBLING knitwear shaped by the rituals of a Saturday night, showing rare garments from Kingston University's Fashion Archive publicly for the first time since the brand closed in 2017. SIBLING was founded by Joe Bates and developed with collaborators Sid Bryan and Cozette McCreery, subverting knitwear's conventions with oversized silhouettes, clashing colours, graphic slogans and a deliberate embrace of the awkward and the joyful. The show is curated by Scarlett, J, Riya, Polina and Elisa, BA Fashion Promotion and Communication students at Kingston School of Art, part of Kingston University. Presented with The Community Brain, it invites audiences beyond the fashion industry to see garments as vibrant expressions of creativity, community and cultural resistance.
