About
The Living Archive is a community led exhibition exploring how history is recorded, who is remembered and how local people can become active authors of Kingston's story. It was developed through a partnership between the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames, Kingston Race and Equalities Council, local residents and artists, authors, curators and researchers Jaixia, Rong, and Jacqueline from Sharp Raiser Limited, and is supported by The National Lottery Heritage Fund. The exhibition celebrates the borough's diverse communities and addresses the underrepresentation of marginalized perspectives within local heritage archives, while honouring half a century of Kingston Race and Equalities Council's dedication to race equality, grassroots leadership, and cultural advocacy. Visitors can discover poems, personal stories, interviews, memories and artworks created during the project and contribute something of their own to Kingston's growing Living Archive.
