The Leo Richardson Quartet plays a night of jazz at Vortex Jazz Club, a gig venue in Dalston's Gillett Square. The London-based saxophonist Leo Richardson leads a quartet with Rick Simpson on piano, Dave Whitford on double bass and Joel Waters on drums, performing two sets of entirely original music. Their sound is grounded in contemporary hard bop, inspired by the hard bop and post-bop era with strong melodies, exciting interplay and a modern edge. The band plays material gearing up to their next album recording, following acclaimed releases 'The Chase' and 'Move'.
