About

"A hard line to bend" is an exhibition of sculpture by Liz Larner, the first showing of her work at a major UK institution. The American artist, born in 1960 and known for radical experiments in material and form, presents works mainly from the last decade, made in clay, metal, wood and plastic. Unfolding across a series of rooms, the show traces ideas of transformation, from ancient myth and cosmology to cycles of matter, and is anchored by a new work inspired by Lilith that incorporates a bronze-cast human hand, an owl foot and a branch from a tree near her studio.
