Role-Play – Caroline Yates and Arthur Neal NEAC
155a gallery, Lordship Lane 155a, East Dulwich
About
Role-Play: Caroline Yates and Arthur Neal NEAC is a two-person exhibition of paintings at 155a Gallery. Caroline Yates shows ostensibly abstract works in which forms emerge through the act of painting itself, with gestural marks, scumbled passages and collaged elements hinting at horses, figures and objects. Arthur Neal's paintings move between abstraction and representation, with figures, beaches and interiors built from abstracted, almost geometric forms. The exhibition brings the two artists' shared language of paint into a conversation about the unstable threshold between representation and abstraction.
