About
A live screening of the ballet Manon from The Royal Ballet, shown at Act One Cinema in London. The work is Kenneth MacMillan's 1974 adaptation of Abbé Prévost's novel, set to Jules Massenet's score with designs by Nicholas Georgiadis. In the seedy underbelly of 18th-century Paris, Manon is caught between her love for the student Des Grieux and the riches promised by Parisian society. Her inner turmoil and struggle for survival lie at the devastating heart of this signature work of The Royal Ballet, rated (15) and running about 190 minutes with two intervals.
