About
A live concert of spiritual Afro-jazz at The Jazz Cafe, headlined by Idris Ackamoor & The Pyramids. Formed in 1972, The Pyramids are described as one of the last surviving bridges between spiritual jazz's radical past and its expanding future. Under Idris Ackamoor's direction, the band grew into a transcontinental ensemble rooted in rhythm, liberation and collective improvisation, with a line-up spanning saxophone, violin, guitar, drums, bass and congas. Their live shows channel the exploratory spirit shaping contemporary jazz, experimental music and Afro-diasporic sound culture across generations.
