About
The Southbury Child is a darkly funny and moving stage play about grief, faith, family and the rituals that shape our lives. Written by Stephen Beresford, it follows David Highland, a raffish and frequently drunk vicar who has held onto his remote coastal parish through charm and determination. When his faith compels him to take a stand with a bereaved parishioner, he finds himself isolated, with his family, his place in the town and his certainties all at risk. This amateur production is directed by Melinda Hunt and runs 2 hours 30 minutes including an interval, with strong language and themes of bereavement, racism and family breakdown.
