- from £18
About
Timothy Ridout crowns his Viola Day with a concert celebrating the versatility of the viola and the breadth of its repertoire. He is joined by violists Hélène Clément, Ting-Ru Lai, Matthew Lipman, Eivind Ringstad and Georgy Kovalev, with James Baillieu on piano and George Herbert on harpsichord. The programme spans Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 6 in a version for five violas, George Benjamin's Viola, Viola, York Bowen's rarely performed Fantasia for four violas, and Frank Bridge's Lament, first performed at Wigmore Hall with Lionel Tertis in 1912. The concert ends with Benjamin Dale's Introduction and Andante for six violas, written for Tertis and his RAM class.
