Zearo: It follows me quietly still
The Sunday Painter, Bellenden
About
A solo exhibition of new work by Zearo, held at The Sunday Painter gallery. Its centre is a single sixteen-metre chalk pastel painting that envelops the gallery's main space. The work takes New Park in Taipei as its point of departure, one of the earliest sites in the Sinophone world where queer men gathered openly, showing it as a place of refuge and exposure where desire finds expression under the shadow of social judgement. Drawing on medieval compositional structures and Chinese handscrolls, the image unfolds as the viewer walks along the wall, considering how longing and connection persist across time.
