"Danny Simmons: The Journey of Spirit" is an exhibition of paintings and works on paper at Westwood Gallery NYC. Planned with the artist and curated by James Cavello, it is the first presentation of his work following his passing in June 2026. Its centerpiece is "Full Circle" (2023), an eleven-panel mixed-media installation selected by MTA Arts & Design for a glass art commission at the Jamaica Bus Depot in Queens, shown alongside seventeen recent works from the final years of his life. Through vibrant abstraction, layered textiles such as Kente cloth and batiks, and expressive mark-making, Simmons explores ancestry, identity, memory, and belonging.
