About
There's no me without you is an interactive exhibition by artist Finnegan Shannon, turning a 12-foot mechanized conveyor belt into a vehicle that brings artworks to visitors seated on surrounding furniture, who can engage through touch, sight, and sound. Shannon reimagines the belt from a longtime fantasy of an exhibition space that meets their access needs, designed as a space for rest and play, with the title drawing on interdependence in disability culture. Over its three-month run, the installation hosts three successive solo presentations of new works by Joselia Rebekah Hughes, Ariana Martinez, and Alex Dolores Salerno, figures of New York City's disability art scene. On September 12, it features Ariana Martinez's presentation of a soundscape with objects forming a "tactile score," exploring touch as a shared language between ecologically entangled entities.
