$50-$90
About
An evening of music at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts pairing composer Julia Wolfe with the ensemble Bang on a Can All-Stars and Trinity Choir. They perform her Pulitzer Prize-winning oratorio Anthracite Fields, written for chorus and six instrumentalists with scenography and projection design by Jeff Sugg. The piece gives voice to the lives, labor, and endurance of Pennsylvania coal miners and their families, drawing on oral histories, speeches, work songs, and local lore. The evening also includes commentary from the composer herself.
