Lake Valley

Lake Valley is an eight-minute video shown as a unique installation by artist Rachel Rose. Rose draws themes and imagery from the history of children's literature, combining collage, found footage, and repurposed materials into dream-like stories about loneliness, imagination, and longing for connection. In the work, an imagined rabbit-like pet left alone on a lonely day leaves its suburban home to seek friendship in the ethereal land of a nearby forest. Assembled from 19th and 20th century children's books with unusual sound editing, it offers a transfixing storybook world exploring universal fears and desires.
