Nike: Form Follows Motion
Museum of Arts and Design, Columbus Circle 2, New York, Manhattan
About
Nike: Form Follows Motion is an exhibition at the Museum of Arts and Design tracing the sports brand's growth over the last five decades from a small Oregon running company into a global cultural force. It is organized by the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany, and curated by Glenn Adamson with assistant curator Marcella Hanika. Drawn primarily from the Department of Nike Archives, it brings together rarely seen experimental prototypes, original design studies, rarities, and one-offs alongside the brand's most iconic shoe collaborations, showcasing sport as a driver of design innovation and global change. Visitors can also join before-hours gallery talks and listen to the Soles of New York audio, in which athletes, designers, and sneaker fans speak about the bond between NYC and Nike.
