About
A stage production of The House of Bernarda Alba, a play by Federico García Lorca in a new translation by Caridad Svich, directed by Emily Mendelsohn. It follows five daughters in rural Spain locked into eight years of mourning after their father's death, whose constrained world explodes when the oldest and wealthiest daughter gets engaged to the man the youngest daughters long for. Written amid rising fascism, the play explores the human cost of a world where image is controlled to suit power, remaining both a tragedy and a love letter to the wild human spirit.
