Unearthing New York: panel talk on 60 years of archaeology.
About
A panel talk celebrating 60 years of historic preservation and the archaeological discoveries it has made possible in New York City, held amid artifacts in the Seaport Museum's Maritime City exhibition. The Seaport Museum and Professional Archaeologists of New York City (PANYC) present it, with PANYC President Kelly Britt speaking with a panel of urban archaeology experts. The conversation covers Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act, city and state policies, and finds from burial grounds and military sites to working-class neighborhoods and everyday life. It also considers what is at stake today with current and proposed changes to preservation legislation.
