About
«Sabine Marcelis – Light and Color» is the first museum exhibition by the Dutch designer Sabine Marcelis at the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich at the Toni-Areal. In her minimalist designs, in which design, art and architecture merge into one unit, Marcelis (*1985) plays with light, colour, reflection and transparency, turning materials such as glass, resin and natural stone into glowing, mirroring, space-shaping objects. The show brings together key groups of works from recent years alongside light pieces created especially for the venue, while material samples and studies offer insights into her creative process. Lamps, mirrors and immersive installations combine in a deliberately restrained staging into an intense spatial experience with an almost magical atmosphere.
