Sofalesung Liliia Zhernov

The Sofalesung is a literary reading held as part of the book festival «Zürich liest», featuring Liliia Zhernov presenting her debut novel «Butter Me Up! Lull mich ein!». The author, born in Kyiv and living in Zürich since 2022, holds a fellowship from the Weiterschreiben Schweiz programme. Her novel tells of a consuming love that cannot be lived: the narrator, a mother and emigrant, falls for a woman on an endless train journey, and the passion tips into obsession as memory, fantasy and experience blur into an inextricable weave of poems and prose. The reading is moderated by Arzije Asani, whose work deals with migration, identity and traces of family memory.
