Talk: Analogue Astronaut: Reaching Space Without Leaving Earth
ETH OAT, Andreasstrasse 5, 8050 Zürich, Kreis 11
About
A talk about analogue astronauts, who simulate space missions here on Earth. Dr. Eleonore Poli, a space scientist who leads Business Development and Strategy for Space & Aeronautics at CSEM and founded CHASM, the international community for analogue space missions, speaks about her work. She describes nights spent in snowstorms, how her missions preparing for emergencies, isolation and autonomy also help people on Earth, and why she believes we must first fail on Earth in order to succeed in space. After the talk, the researchers will be available for about 15 minutes to answer questions.
