About

The exhibition “Dropping In and Out – A Response to Uncertainty” brings together artistic and research-based positions on the ruptures and detours in the biographies of deceased artists and historical women from different disciplines. It was initiated by Berlin-based artists Mathilde ter Heijne and Vanessa Gravenor (Berlin University of the Arts) with literary scholar Jessica Goodman (University of Oxford), in curatorial collaboration with Katharina Koch and Sylvia Sadzinski. Based on biographical research, letters and artistic works, the multimedia works on show open up layered narratives about exclusion, resistance, care and communal forms of knowledge instead of linear success stories. The project seeks to make gaps in the genealogical narratives of feminist actors visible and to foster solidarity across temporal and spatial boundaries.
