About
The Museum Reinickendorf opens a new room for prehistory and early history with a lecture. The oldest finds of human activity in the greater Berlin area were discovered at the Tegeler Fließ in Reinickendorf, including traces of resting places and storage pits of Upper Palaeolithic reindeer hunters from around 10,700 to 9,500 BC. The room presents precious archaeological exhibits, among them the lacquered profile of a Stone Age storage pit from the 1950s, on generous long-term loan from the Museum of Prehistory and Early History of the Berlin State Museums. In her lecture, Dr. Ewa Dutkiewicz, curator of the Stone Age department at the New Museum, explains the significance of the Stone Age finds as early testimony of humankind; the welcome is given by Dr. Sabine Ziegenrücker, head of the art and history department.
