A festival evening of music, readings, talks and film about Wolf Biermann, whom the GDR stripped of his citizenship in 1976 after a concert in Cologne. It is staged by the Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur on the 50th anniversary of his expatriation, hosted by Salwa Houmsi. The programme features a keynote by Angela Merkel, a conversation with Wolf Biermann and Balbina, a contemporary witness talk with Gabriele Stötzer, Doris Liebermann and Ilko-Sascha Kowalczuk, and literary-artistic panoramas of Biermann's poems and literature from exile with, among others, Durs Grünbein, Thomas Brussig and Fabian Hinrichs. It closes with the cinema documentary "BIERMANN" by Jens Meurer.
