An evening festival with music, readings, conversations and film marking the 50th anniversary of Wolf Biermann's expatriation from the GDR. It is organised by the Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur, and Salwa Houmsi guides through the programme. After a concert in Cologne in 1976, the GDR stripped Biermann of his citizenship and refused to let him return, yet his voice only grew louder and moved divided Germany alike. Highlights include excerpts from the legendary Cologne concert of 1976, a keynote by Dr. Angela Merkel, a conversation between Wolf Biermann and Balbina, and the cinema documentary "BIERMANN" by Jens Meurer.
