About

A commemorative hour for the dead of the 1918/19 revolution at the Friedhof der Märzgefallenen, 108 years after the November Revolution. It recalls the revolutionary end of the monarchy and the proclamation of the first German republic on 9 November 1918 as a decisive step towards democracy and social justice. It is organised by forum 1848; speakers include Sigrid Klebba of the Paul Singer Verein, Damiano Valgolio and Felicia Kompio of GEW Berlin, with contributions from pupils of the Katholische Theresienschule and music by Isabel Neuenfeldt. After 1848, revolutionaries were also laid to rest at this cemetery in November and December 1918; from 13:00 a tour about the 1918/19 revolution takes place on the grounds.
