Aufbruch und Abbruch. Vom Runden Tisch zum Parlamentssaal im Palast der Republik
Humboldt Forum, Schloßplatz, 10178 Berlin, Mitte
free
About
A talk about two significant sites of the Peaceful Revolution: the Central Round Table at Schönhausen Palace in Pankow and the parliamentary chamber in the Palace of the Republic. Behind the event are the Humboldt Forum, the ORTS-Termin and the installation „Sturzlage“, held on the occasion of the Berlin Freedom Week 2026. The speaker is Gabi Dolff-Bonekämper, one of the most prominent voices in Berlin's culture of remembrance, who explores the history and significance of these two places. She asks why their history is told so little today and why the democratic potential of the Round Table and the freely elected Volkskammer remains relevant.
