About
The talk »Geheimtransporte über die Ostsee« looks back on 40 years of the Mukran ferry port. It covers the secret rail ferry link between East Germany and the Soviet Union, which ran on a 48-hour schedule bypassing Poland and was praised in GDR propaganda as a »bridge of friendship to the land of Lenin«. The history of this connection between Mukran and Klaipėda was researched by publicist Wolfgang Klietz, who will present it that evening with many new photos. The event is a cooperation with the Museum Berlin-Karlshorst, moderated by Sören Marotz of the DDR Museum.
