Marie Schleef: The Gap as a Source of Inspiration: Toward a Feminist Theater Practice
ZK/U, Siemensstraße 27, 10551 Berlin, Moabit
Free admission
About
A lecture by theatre director Marie Schleef offering a personal insight into her artistic practice and how exploring the unknown, the forgotten and the unseen became a driving force in her work. Drawing on theatrical and non-theatrical projects, she shows how she turned the gap — supposedly an empty and void space — into a vessel of inspiration and a foundation for her feminist theatre approach, while also contextualizing the German theater world and its system. Schleef is a Berlin-based director especially interested in staging texts (by women) never performed before; she studied directing at the "Ernst Busch" Academy of Dramatic Arts and worked as an assistant director at the Volksbühne Berlin. The talk is part of the series "Talks on Curatorial Practice 2026/2027", is held in English, admission is free, and on-site participation requires no registration.
