About
A concert evening of Turkish-inflected alternative pop blending jazz harmonies and Balkan melodies in an ensemble setting. Berlin-based singer, songwriter and pianist Merve Akyıldız performs on vocals and piano, joined by Daniel Stawinski (piano), Giacomo Tagliavia (bass guitar), Marcus Rust (trumpet) and Manuel Podhostnik (drums). Her pieces unfold between delicate ballads and rhythmically driven pieces with plenty of room for improvisation. Through her project she aims to build a cultural bridge between Turkey and Europe and bring contemporary Turkish-language music to international stages.
