PATRIARCHY FADES, THE FUTURE RISES – Markus Keibel
Luisa Catucci Gallery, Brunnenstraße 170, Mitte
About
On 15 October 2026, the exhibition “PATRIARCHY FADES, THE FUTURE RISES” by German artist Markus Keibel, curated by Luisa Catucci, opens with a vernissage at Luisa Catucci Gallery in Berlin. At its core is a body of work based on Doré's 1865 Bible illustrations, in which Keibel keeps almost only those plates showing women – women who are accused, punished or cast away – and lets colour bring this long-hidden pattern to the surface. The exhibition moves from steel through paper to a forest of hand-wrapped totems and to works on silk, including three depictions of Lucifer from different eras of illustration and a silk field serving as a portal for a new consciousness. Everything is deliberately built as a non-permanent structure that can be taken apart and reassembled, because the exhibition argues that seemingly solid foundations are proposals that can be dismantled.
