Susie Ibarra presents her project Sky Islands for the first time at the Pierre Boulez Saal. The composer, percussionist and sound artist was awarded the 2025 Pulitzer Prize for Music. Conceived for eight musicians, the work is inspired by the 'sky islands', unique ecosystems in the mountain rainforests of Luzon in the Philippines. It combines a conventional musical score with Philippine gong and bamboo instruments, creating a 'garden of sounds' and is a musical call to preserve the Earth's biodiversity and raise awareness of climate change.
