UNCOVER: East German artists from the GDR to today.
UNCOVER.Ostdeutsche Künstler:innen zwischen Zuschreibung und Sichtbarkeit
About
UNCOVER. Ostdeutsche Künstler:innen zwischen Zuschreibung und Sichtbarkeit is an exhibition featuring painting, graphics, installation, objects and material experiments. It shows works by Gerda Lepke, Barbara Toch, Karin Hunger, Nadja Schütt, Tobia König and Vivien Schlecht, born between 1939 and 1992. They span three generations: careers that began in the GDR, paths shaped by the upheaval after 1989/90, and positions from reunified Germany. The exhibition asks why East German art is still often perceived only regionally and how visibility and the canon emerge; it includes a digital 3D exhibition and podcasts.
