About
The exhibition "Ungebremste Selbstbewegungen. Kunst mit Fotografie in der DDR" presents artistic positions that emerged in the 1980s through the collaboration of artists from different disciplines. It is devoted to a "other photography of the GDR", a "photography from below", which was often published in privately produced photo portfolios and semi-legal magazines. At its core are works that do not point journalistically or documentarily to a depicted reality, but rather reflect their own conditions and define themselves through the idea rather than outward form. The concept was developed by Christoph Tannert as external curator; represented artists include Claus Bach, Tina Bara, Klaus Elle, Thomas Florschuetz, Cornelia Schleime and Gabriele Stötzer.
