“Von der Steppe zum Weltreich” is a public guided tour for adults at the James-Simon-Galerie, held in connection with the exhibition “Dschingis Khan. und die Welt der Mongolen” of the Museum für Vor- und Frühgeschichte. Organized by the Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, it uses fascinating archaeological finds to tell of the mounted nomadic warriors who, under Genghis Khan and his successors, conquered the largest land empire in history. The tour shows how the Mongol rulers created an order through laws, secured trade routes and post stations, beginning an intensive exchange of goods and ideas between Asia, Persia and Europe. It also covers the empires of the Turks and Uighurs who ruled the steppe before them.
